this superb commissioned painting of the british war ships, hms.suffolk , and her sister ship hms norfolk, was painted by a renowned naval and aviation artist. the detail on the painting is superb, below on the mount the artist has hand written full details and title of the painting. the painting is accompanied by original naval documents from the ship relating to hms suffolk"s role in the sinking of the bismark, also photographs, these documents are original and not reproductions. actual image measures 24 x 16 and framed measures 30 x 21 1/2 please read some details of these ships which i have added below. on may 18th, 1941, the bismarck and the heavy cruiser prinz eugene slipped out of the baltic port of gdynia to attack allied convoys in the atlantic. on may 23rd, the cruiser suffolk" spotted both the bismarck and the prinz eugene. the suffolk" reported her sighting and hms norfolk received this report up at 20.22, the norfolk spotted both german ships.
